Nexus

Hello there, I just reinstalled FO3 Goty and wanted to install some mods. While I found most of the mods on the nexus server, the Darnified UI mod is no longer there. The link on the bethsoft server took my to a server called ui.darnified.net and there seems to be no way for me to get an access to this server - password protected with no ability to join. Darnified user Interface using vanilla fonts - posted in Mod Organizer - Fallout Support: Hello everyone, This is my first post here at STEP and need some guidance on an issue I am having. I wanted to go and play FO3 again and thought about trying out Mod Organizer and see how that works. Following the instructions that are on the STEP wiki, I installed Mod Organizer and proceeded to build my.

  1. * Original video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m36rK_TpHcc
  2. | Detailed Guide |
  3. This description guide will go more in depth than the video, for any of you who are new to modding or who get stuck at any point in the guide. Remember that if even this guide doesn't help you, you can always look on the individual mod pages and see their own installation instructions. There's also a lot of help on the internet forums.
  4. | Performance |
  5. Starting with performance, it's probably the most important thing really. The game can look as good as anything, but if it doesn't play then there's no point. Lucky for us, there are lot's of ways to make this game perform up to scratch and with modern gaming features.
  6. | Part 1 - INI Tweaks |
  7. Changing your INI settings is probably the most effective way of reducing game crashes, and you can do this by adding and changing 2 lines of code. First go to your Fallout 3 save games folder. This folder can be found under 'Documents' and then 'My Games' and then 'Fallout3'. This is definitely where it will be if you're running a windows machine, unless you moved it away manually. Open up the file called 'FALLOUT.INI'. Search for the line of code that says 'bUseThreadedAI'. You can search for this quickly by pressing 'CTRL' + 'F', and then typing in the search box 'ThreadedAI', and click find. Once you have located the line of code, change its value to 1, so now the line should read 'bUseThreadedAI=1'. Press enter and type in the line 'iNumHWThreads=2'. These lines will restrict the game to use 2 cores, and will stabilise the game and stop it from crashing.
  8. | Part 2 – Fixes and patches |
  9. Moving on to the fixes and patches, we will need to download some mods. The links to all of the mods can be found below this guide. Before we start, we're going to want to create a backup folder. To do this, we first need to locate our Fallout 3 install directory. If you're playing the game through steam, it should be in your steam apps folder, which will be in either your C or D drive. for me, the install directory looks like this: 'D:SteamLibrarysteamappscommonFallout 3 goty'. Once you have located your install directory, create a new folder called 'Backup'. This is easy enough and you can see an example of it in the video. Copy and paste your fallout 3.exe into the backup folder.
  10. Now it's time to download mods, remember that all of the mod links can be found below this guide. Download the first mod in this list, called 'Fake Fullscreen Mode Windowed - Alt Tab Fix'. All you have to do is drag the 'Fallout_Fullscreen.exe' file into your Fallout 3 directory, and then copy and paste it again into your backup folder. Remember to always launch the game through this new file.
  11. The next two mods are called 'ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated' and 'Games for Windows LIVE Disabler'. Download the mods, and for 'ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated', make sure you download the program version. Simply drag the mods into your Fallout 3 directory and launch the executables, then follow the instructions to activate the mods. It's very simple.
  12. The next mod is called 'Large Address Aware Enabler for FO3'. This one is little bit different to install. Download the mod, and drag its folder, the one that says '3GB enabler' into your directory. Next drag your Fallout 3.exe into the new folder. Don't copy and paste, actually drag the file. Next, go into the folder and click on the file 'start.bat' and follow the on screen instructions. Once finished, drag the file back into your main directory, and you're done.
  13. Next download the 'Nexus mod manager'. You can find this program on the nexus website, with a link at the very top of the page. Download the program and install it, and then boot it up into the Fallout 3 manager. You will need to create a new account to download mods through it, so go onto the website and follow the necessary steps to create your account, then log in through the manager. You can log in by clicking on the 'log in' button in the bottom left of the manager. If you want to, you can create a mod profile. Do this by clicking on the 'New profile' button in the top left, and typing in 'Fallout 3 remastered'.
  14. Go and download the final mod, called 'UPDATED Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch'. Now that the mod manager is in place, all you have to do now is go onto the mods files section, and click 'download with manager'. The mod should now be downloading through the mod manager, indicated when you hover over the download manager tab at the bottom left. Once downloaded it should appear in the mods tab (top left), and to install it, simply double click it and wait. Your manager might momentarily freeze.
  15. | Graphics |
  16. Now let's focus on the graphics. This part is going to be super easy. You know how to download mods through the manager and you know how to install them, so we should be able to breeze through this part. Remember that from this point forward we'll want to download all of the mods through the manager.
  17. | part 3 – Textures |
  18. Remember to install all of these texture mods in the order that I list them. Some of these mods are not hosted on the nexus, so to add them to the manager, first create a folder in your Fallout 3 install directory called 'Mods'. Any mods tha aren't from the nexus should be added here, and i suggest you zip them up, if they aren't already. To add the mods, click on the 'Add mod from file' button in the left hand panel. Im now going to list the mods off, and you install them.

  31. Now let's focus on the User Interface. It's way too big, so let's make it smaller with the mod 'DarNified UI F3'. To install this, you'll need to make some INI changes. There is a very comprehensive install guide on the mod page, and frankly I can't do any better xD
  32. | Part 5 – ENB |
  33. Now let's install the ENB. This is the most vital part of the guide. First you'll want to download the latest fallout 3 enb file from enbdev.com. Drag the d3d9.ddl file into your fallout 3 directory, make sure you download the wrapper version. Then download the 'Lone Wanderer ENB', and drag it's contents into the Fallout 3 directory. There's actually a comprehensive guide on the midharastic ENB mod page.

* Moved from Google+ since it is shutting down. * Original video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m36rK_TpHcc | Detailed Guide | This description guide will go more in depth than the video, for any of you who are new to modding or who get stuck at any point in the guide. Remember that if even this guide doesn't help you, you can always look on the individual mod pages and see their own installation instructions. There's also a lot of help on the internet forums. | Performance | Starting with performance, it's probably the most important thing really. The game can look as good as anything, but if it doesn't play then there's no point. Lucky for us, there are lot's of ways to make this game perform up to scratch and with modern gaming features. | Part 1 - INI Tweaks | Changing your INI settings is probably the most effective way of reducing game crashes, and you can do this by adding and changing 2 lines of code. | Part 2 – Fixes and patches | Moving on to the fixes and patches, we will need to download some mods. | Graphics | Now let's focus on the graphics. This part is going to be super easy. You know how to download mods through the manager and you know how to install them, so we should be able to breeze through this part. Remember that from this point forward we'll want to download all of the mods through the manager. | part 3 – Textures | Remember to install all of these texture mods in the order that I list them. | NMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3 | UHQ Terrain Overhaul | Better clutter and furniture pack | MGs Neat Clutter | Megaton_Texture_Pack | Rivet City Texture Pack | Vandr HD Creatures | Robot Revolution HD – Protectron | Ghouls Hires retexture | Hi-Res Weapons v3 | Hall of Equipment | Chems and Meds Re-Texture Pack | HD Smoky Fire and Explosions for FO3 | Enhanced Blood Textures ||Alternate Textures | HD TERMINALS | PipBoy 3000 HD Retexture | Better Booze | Skill Books Hi-Res Retexture | Mothership Zeta DLC Retextured | DLC Operation: Anchorage ReTexture | DLC The Pitt ReTexture | DLC Broken Steel ReTexture | DLC Point Lookout ReTexture | part 4 – User Interface | Now let's focus on the User Interface. It's way too big, so let's make it smaller with the mod 'DarNified UI F3'. To install this, you'll need to make some INI changes. There is a very comprehensive install guide on the mod page, and frankly I can't do any better xD | Part 5 – ENB | Now let's install the ENB. This is the most vital part of the guide.
